The 90-day countdown — what the smartest couples lock in early

Three months out is the right time to finalize most of the music and timeline details. Here's what we ask every couple at the 90-day mark.

Three months before your wedding is when the timeline becomes real. Vendors firm up arrival windows. Venues confirm load-in logistics. The music — which can feel like the most flexible piece — actually wants to be locked in early.

Here's what we ask every Crow couple at the 90-day check-in.

Ceremony

  • Processional songs — one for the wedding party, one for the bride (or whichever entry is the "moment")
  • Recessional — the upbeat exit
  • Officiant mic preferences — handheld, lapel, or stand?
  • Ceremony sound zone — guests-only, or do you want music carrying to cocktail hour?

Cocktail hour

  • Vibe — jazz, instrumental, current hits unplugged, something else?
  • Volume target — background-only, or "people should be tapping their feet"?
  • Announcement at end — do you want the DJ to invite guests into the reception room verbally, or just music shift?

Reception — the big seven

These are the seven music moments we want decided 90 days out:

  1. Grand entrance — wedding party songs (one per couple, or one shared)
  2. First dance
  3. Father-daughter dance
  4. Mother-son dance
  5. Cake cutting song
  6. Anniversary dance song (if you're doing one)
  7. Last dance / send-off

Must-play and do-not-play

The do-not-play list is the more useful of the two. Bring us songs, artists, and categories (e.g. "no country," "nothing explicit," "no songs from the 2014 wedding circuit"). We'll calibrate the whole night around those rules.

The must-play list should be short. Twenty songs is plenty. We'll thread them through the night at the right energy moments — not all in the first hour.

Logistics

  • Final venue walk-through date — schedule us if we haven't been to your venue before
  • Vendor meal — most venues plate one for the DJ; confirm with your coordinator
  • Set-up window — we typically want 2 hours pre-ceremony; tell us if your venue has tight load-in rules

If you're 90 days out and haven't done this pass yet, send us a calendar invite. We'll run through the whole list on a 30-minute call.
